RiverView Printing's in-house ad campaign is probably my favorite campaign I participated in that the Register Star Marketing team created. This is truly an example of what can be done when a group of people work as a team. My former boss and art director, Chris Soprych, was the head of this team. We all worked together to brainstorm the campaign's messages. We worked with writers who conceptualized the ads and Chris and I worked on creating the imagery and look of the campaign together. I think it's a very successful example of strong teamwork.

This is a series of house ads that ran in the Rockford Register Star, promoting the Register Star's Spring Garage Sale classified products. I worked on this campaign with Chris Soprych, my art director. I used clipart for the blue egg and nest but I wasn't able to find appropriate art for the kite, so I actually built a one myself. I am particularly happy with the headline typography in this ad. We worked with a tight family of fonts and weights when creating all of our marketing pieces, and I think this campaign still manages to have a distinct feel. The symmetry of the words gives extra focus and weight to the imagery.

This is a separate series of house ads that ran in the Rockford Register Star, promoting the Register Star's summer Garage Sale classified products. It has a vintage poster feel, which I particularly love. I created all the imagery myself, brainstorming with Chris Soprych, my art director, and Amy Steinke, the marketing coordinator.

Following the story of a man who held a garage sale specifically targeting the male audience by selling only tools and other "man" type objects, the marketing committee decided to market the Register Star's Garage Sale classified products as "Man sales." My art director, Chris Soprych, and I put the look and feel of these ads together and I designed the actual pieces.

This is a three-panel brochure I conceptualized, suggested creating and designed. The target audience was women 35 to 65, especially women with families. It promotes various products the Register Star produced at the time. I thought it was a good way to communicate all our products at once to potential advertisers and industry people, while also being a useful and handy takeaway.

This was a campaign designed to set the facts straight about the state of the Rockford Register Star's business and the power of newspapers. I worked closely with Linda Grist Cunningham to conceive and execute these ads. Scott Morgan photographed Scott Bowers, the publisher at the time, and we all worked together to make sure that the photos set the right tone and conveyed the appropriate image.

This is an invitation I created for a Register Star event called "After Hours Appreciation." I created the look and feel and the design of the piece myself.

This is my favorite Christmas Card I created for the Rockford Register Star. Look closely and you will see the wreath is created out of newspaper pages. I made this wreath myself, hot gluing circles of paper I cut out to a wreath form. Then I created the red bow and hung it from my own front door. My husband, photographer Scott Morgan, shot it and I finished the card.

The Rockford Register Star recently installed a 60-inch television monitor in the employee entrance lobby. Its purpose is to help keep staffers more informed on happenings in the building and keep up with all the current initiatives and information they need to know. I designed the information screen. This is an example of how something simple can be elevated, helping to create a professional and elegant feel in a space. I created this independently and on my own initiative, gathering feedback from coworkers and others around the building.

The Rockford Register Star creates a number of publications for outside organizations. The organizations provide the content and the photographs and other pieces, and the Register Star paginates the publications. I've worked on some of these projects.
I helped to create the Rockford Park District's 2010 annual report cover, as well as designing the 2011 Rockford Park District annual report in it's entirety. You can see it here >

I worked closely with Lisa Jackson of Rockford Mass Transit District to create a special grand opening celebration special section. She provided all the content and photographs, and gave me a preliminary layout. I coordinated with her and we were able to merge her ideas and my thoughts to create a design that accomplished all the things she wanted. She was very pleased with the results. IMAGE COMING SOON
